PDF Downloads
Our free PDF (portable document format) Download is a digital file of the first 20% of reading assignments from your course pack that you are able to download via a secure, unique link. We provide this free PDF Download for you immediately after you've placed your order for your course pack.* The PDF Download allows you to start your readings right away while the printed copy of your course pack is in the process of being shipped to you.
The PDF download is viewable using Adobe Acrobat Reader which you can download free:
Please note that not all course packs will have a PDF download available (some publishers restrict digital distribution of their materials). If you are unsure if there is a PDF download available for your course, a note will be displayed under your course pack listing in our online store. If you have any further questions, please email us or call us at 800.200.3908.
Your PDF download (if applicable to your course pack) is available for immediate download via a link on the final checkout page when you place an order. Also, you are automatically emailed a backup link to your PDF download if you accidentally forget to download after purchasing or want to download at a later time. This email also contains simple instructions on how to download and save this PDF file to your computer so that you can open, read, and print out the download at your convenience.
If you have lost your download or have accidentally deleted the backup email with your download information, please
Email Us with your name, course name, and order number, and we will email you a new PDF download link.
Simple. Once you've clicked the link to download your PDF file, your browser will automatically open a small download window. Please click the "SAVE" button in order to store the download on your computer to a location of your choice.
PLEASE DO NOT CHOOSE TO CLICK THE "OPEN" BUTTON FROM THE DOWNLOAD WINDOW!!! We recommend saving your download to your "Desktop" simply for the sake of convenience; however, you may save this file anywhere on your computer. By choosing to "SAVE" your download, you will have access to viewing and printing your first few reading assignments using.
Digital Pack
A Digital Pack is a digital version of your course pack, a collection of PDF files controlled by a DRM (Digital Rights Management) file distribution system that allows us to offer you with digital access to backups of your print course pack.
Your professor decides whether or not your course pack will be available in a full Digital Pack format; in addition, some content may not be offered in a Digital Pack format (the copyright owner of the content may not choose to grant permission to distribute electronically in some instances).
If a Digital Pack is available for the course pack that you are purchasing, you will be prompted during checkout to select a Digital Pack option (a Full Digital Pack only, a Print plus Full Digital Pack, or both) either immediately after clicking the "Add to Cart" button OR directly on the course pack's details page. Otherwise, if you are not prompted, a Digital Pack is simply not available to purchase for your course.
To access your Digital Pack, simply go to our
Student Store and login. Once logged in, click on the button called "My Digital Packs" from the yellow horizontal navigation bar. Follow the instructions on the resulting page to ensure that you have both
Adobe Reader installed as well as the
FileOpen Plug-in in order to view your Digital Pack.
Note: depending on your browser's settings, when installing the, you may be prompted by your browser and asked to allow an ActiveX Control called 'File Open Client Installer' to be installed (typically, a prompt will show up horizontally on the top of your browser beneath the address window). Please install the ActiveX Control at this time by following your browser's instructions. Installation is simple and very quick (only a couple of clicks). You should
not need to restart your system if you are running Windows; however, you may need to restart if you are on a MAC.
You might also be prompted to install a Java-based version of the FileOpen plug-in instead of an Active X version, and there's a chance (MAC users) that manual installation of the FileOpen plug-in may be required depending on your computer's OS, browser, and Adober Acrobat/Reader configurations.
Windows: XP and higher, Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.02 and higher or Mozilla Firefox 2.0 or higher, Acrobat Reader 7 or higher is required for printing cases and articles from Harvard Business School Publishing (HBSP). HBSP content is protected with digital rights management (DRM) software to prevent unauthorized redistribution. University Readers uses the FileOpen Publisher plug-in to enforce DRM.
Mac: OSX 10.4 or higher, Safari 1.2 or higher or Mozilla FireFox 2.0 or higher

We've improved our San Diego ordering and delivery process! Our process is much like "Amazon.com" – but we're even more convenient as we also have an office only about a mile from UCSD! Our course packs are all sold online via our
Student Store with cheap, expedited 1-2 day delivery available for students both on and off campus. In addition, all orders placed online will receive a FREE 20% PDF download, so you can get started reading the first 20% of your course pack at 2AM immediately after placing your order if so desired.
Plus, by ordering online, you'll never have to wait in a long line again to buy your course pack, and you can forget about paying any bookstore mark-ups! Don't worry, you can still stop by our office or order over the phone if you really want to. Phone orders can also be shipped directly to you or picked up at our Sorrento Valley office location.
Please be sure to call us prior to coming to our office so that we can have a copy of your course pack ready upon your arrival.

UCSD ON-CAMPUS Pick-up Location Schedule.
IMPORTANT: 1. You MUST receive your
Pick-up Confirmation Slip via email (this is NOT the same as your Order Confirmation) prior to visiting your college's pick-up location. This ensures that your order is truly ready to pick up. Typically, this takes 1-2 days (but is often same day).
2. In addition, you MUST print out and bring your
Pick-up Confirmation Slip and have photo ID ready to pick up your order.
Because University Readers is an independent company, unaffiliated with any specific university, we do not currently have course packs available for sale on campus, unless specified by your professor. If your professor has worked with us in the production of a course pack, the same pack will not be available through any other copy shops, as it is an exclusive publishing agreement. If you purchase a pirated version of any of our materials, you and any knowing participants will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
Although we have done this in the past and may still do it for special circumstances, our new online ordering and delivery system and near-campus location have reduced the necessity for one-on-one deliveries.
Course packs for most classes can be picked up at our office. However, we donīt keep all course packs in stock, so it is necessary to call ahead if you need a specific course pack on short notice. If a course pack is out-of-stock, we will specially print out a copy for you. Most special-ordered copies are available for pickup or mailing the next working day.
Our online ordering system accepts all major credit & debit cards and electronic check payments. For orders picked up at our office, we also accept cash and check payments. All checks should be made out to University Readers and should have your driver's license number written on it. We will assess a $25 returned electronic check fee if you enter an incorrect account number, so please be exact and 100% sure when entering your bank account information.

Call 1-800-ASK-USPS for more info on contacting your local post office.

Online purchasing instructions
Many professors use course packs as their primary texts for a course. In such cases, it is strongly recommended that you purchase your course pack as you would a textbook. Occasionally the course pack is a supplement to other course material but still very important nonetheless.
Federal copyright law and court case precedents make it very clear that no business or individual may reproduce or distribute copyrighted materials in either for-profit or non-profit entities without the permission of the copyright holder(s). In exchange for the right to reproduce copyrighted materials, most copyright holders charge a royalty fee.
As an educational publisher, University Readers negotiates with copyright holders for the lowest possible royalty fees when possible. It is our goal to keep the price of your course pack to an absolute minimum. While many copy shops choose to ignore the law and provide illegal photocopies of copyrighted material at a lower price, University Readers and your professors are dedicated to keeping the cost of your course materials as low as possible while complying with federal copyright laws.
