Myths for All Time
University Readers
by Dr. Patrick Hunt
University Readers
Patrick Hunt has been fascinated by Greek mythology since his early years. As a young graduate student at the American School of Classical Studies in Athens, he was thrilled to find evidence of the places described in myth still in place. Patrick has also taught Greek Mythology at Stanford University since 1994, when he first started teaching archaeology, mythology, ancient technology, and humanities there.

In his book Myths for All Time, Hunt succinctly retells twelve of the most well known Greek mythological stories. Hunt brings them to life by presenting archaeological evidence behind some of the stories. These metaphysical tales of the human imagination—derived from the landscape of ancient Greece—create a priceless treasure that outlines the very foundations of Western culture, art, and history.

Using a conversational and contemporary style of prose, Hunt very imaginatively portrays characters whose fundamental human characteristics are much like our own. He emphasizes the overriding message of these myths, thus making them applicable in today’s milieu. Readers of all ages will experience a sense of wonder instilled by the vivid pictures of these ancient fables that Hunt paints in their minds.
